.My husband, Max, was born in Kraków, Poland, and I was born in the United States into a Polish-American family. I grew up surrounded by Polish culture and traditions, so in many ways, we were a natural fit. Five years after we met, we were finally able to visit his family in Poland. I fell in love with the country almost immediately. There was something about Poland that felt familiar to me, and it was there that I truly felt at home. After many years of spending our summers in Poland, we decided to create a second home there. We wanted a place of our own—a place where we could spend extended time together and where our children, and eventually our grandchildren, could experience life in the Polish countryside. We found that place in a quiet little village surrounded by the Beskid Wyspowy mountains. The slower pace, beautiful countryside and charm of village life were exactly what we had been looking for. We created a home there that became the result of our shared journey and a true labor of love—a sanctuary tucked into a peaceful corner of the village, surrounded by mountains and nature. Eventually, we realized it seemed unfair to keep such a special place entirely to ourselves. So we decided to share it. When our family wasn't using the house, we began welcoming guests. Some come simply to slow down, relax and enjoy the mountain views and wildlife that can be seen from the property. Others use the house as a peaceful home base while exploring Kraków, Zakopane and the surrounding region. Hiking trails are directly accessible from the property, and nearby Śnieżnica offers beautiful trails and protected natural areas. It's a wonderful place for a quiet walk through the forest—or, in season, a little mushroom foraging. We loved the area so much that we eventually purchased another nearby property and built a smaller home for ourselves. Now we can spend our summers in Poland while keeping our original home available for guests to enjoy. Over the years, one of the greatest surprises has been how much we have enjoyed hosting. We've welcomed people from across Europe and beyond, and some of those guests have even become lasting friends. This home began as a place for our own family to gather and make memories.
